Herbs and greens on a balcony in summer 2020 / Prophylactic self-isolation series. Day 173rd.

Herbs and greens which I grew on my balcony in 2020

  • coriander
  • peppermint
  • rosemary
  • parsley
  • bay
  • oregano
  • dill
  • basil
  • lettuce
  • lavender
  • sage
  • sorrel

What are my practical insights about growing them?

Coriander

Experience gained

Grows very slowly and hardly from seeds. The seeds should be broken apart gently before putting into a soil.

My harvest

Few tiny weak leaves here and there

Peppermint

Experience gained

Peppermint has an exuberant root system – whatever space you give to it – it takes it. It is better to plant in larger pot, separately from any other plants, for the root system to have place where to grow. Likes partly shadow place

My harvest

If planted properly – with enough space for roots – grows amazingly well. Even after I cut all the stems in the beginning of August – the new stems appeared and there will be more fresh leaves for September
