Important to know:

  • Pulpy Mango breakfast is a separate meal. No other food should be consumed at the same time
  • 2 Tbsp of chia seeds per person per day in enough!
  • Keep the time space for at least 1 hour. If the first breakfast was a citrus juice (with lemons or oranges) – ensure to make a pause between citrus juice and sweet fruits like mango, because citrus fruits require different ferments to be involved in the digestion and can not be mixed with any sweet fruits at the same time
  • Pulpy Mango sweet delight IS NOT any kind of dessert to eat with coffee. It is a separate meal
  • To make turmeric active ingredients work well and bring it’s value, black pepper should always be added. Extract for the scientific article:

It has been demonstrated that combining curcumin (from turmeric) with piperine from black pepper increased the bioavailability of curcuminoids in animal and human studies (Pawar et al., 2012; Sehgal et al., 20112012). This effect in vivo was mainly explained through the ability of piperine to inhibit hepatic and intestinal glucuronidation of curcuminoids and inhibition of release of curcuminoid into the intestine leading to an increase in bioavailability (Berginc et al., 2012) … // … Most likely other chemical components (aromatic and terpenic constituents such as β-caryophyllene, limonene, β-pinene, aphellandrene and α-humulene) of black pepper may also contribute to enhance the antioxidant activity of turmeric.

Prophylactic self-isolation for Gummy sweet breakfast preparation. Day 89th.

Overture

Many of us would feel joyfully for sure if knowing that a kind of health-beneficial breakfast could start with a desert. That is as we do!

One of the food product, enhancing bowel movements and reducing constipation is flax seed. Especially during (post)-pandemic time, which was intertwined with even higher lack of mobility for entire human race on the Planet than normally (according “normally” of XXI century). Constipation is a right way to clog a system (a body), producing numerous unhealthy conditions. One should realize, that his/her constipation is his/her own business, however, related to his/her own health.

– What are you talking about? How I would eat those flax seeds? Are they tasty, or are they eatable at all???

-And yes, and no. Any time it is important to know how to prepare food, any kind of food, unless it is just an apple. But even with an apple there would be probably few tech-tips from me how to prepare and eat it properly:)

So, back to flax seed, here is the recipe of Gummy sweet breakfast:

Recipe

TWO VERSIONS:

1) for warm days to refresh a body (with fresh berries)

2) for cold days to warm a body (with banana and dried berries)

Before you start:

Passive timeActive timeEquipment neededServings
2-8 hours10 mincoffee mill
whisk

Main information about preparation process

PASSIVE TIME is time before, during or after food preparation when nothing should be done, just waitingsoaking, sprouting, cooling down, freezing
ACTIVE TIME is factual time spent in a kitchen for preparationcutting, washing, boiling, crashing, mixing
EQUIPMENT NEEDEDspecific kitchen equipment, if not counting regular tools like pots, spoons or knifes

Ingredients:

Flax seeds6 Tbsp
Cinnamon powder1 Tbsp
Rosehip powder (optional)1 Tbsp
Ashwagandha powder (optional)1 tsp
Water, purified1.5 cup (or 240 ml)
Date syrup (non-sugary)4-6 Tbsp
Blueberries, strawberries fresh / or 0.5 cup
or mix of banana, dried mulberries and Goji berries1 banana, handful of berries
List of ingredients for preparation of Gummy breakfast

Tbsp table spoon
tsp tea spoon
cup US measuring cup, equal to 240 ml of water
Abbreviations and their meaning

How to make it:

  1. Mill flax seeds in coffee mill
  2. In a cup, combine all powdered ingredients by using a whisk: milled flax seeds, cinnamon, rosehip powder and ashwagandha
  3. Add 1 cup (240 ml) of water and stir well by using a same whisk
  4. Let a mixture stay on a counter for at least 2 hours or overnight
  5. After 4 hours or next morning, add date syrup and remaining amount of water – 0.5 cup (120 ml) and stir well
  6. Serve with fresh blueberries on a top of each dessert cup or
    • or serve with cut in slices banana. mulberries and Goji berries on a top

Important to know:

  • If adding dry berries to a flax seed mixture (mulberry, Goji), then wait 5-10 minutes, berries will soften a little bit
  • Optional additives: rosehip and ashwagandha
    • rosehip is a great source of vitamin C
    • ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It reduces blood sugar level, helps body to manage stress because reduces cortisol level, boosts brain function, increases muscle mass and strength, may reduce inflammation, contributes to fertility (1)
  • This is not some kind of junky dessert which could be eaten after lunch or with coffee during a day. This is a separate breakfast meal
  • Any kind of super food (ashwagandha), even if it is super super natural and beneficial for health, should not be taken for a long time on a daily basis. Good way is to change one to another. For example, when a package of ashwagandha is finished – change it to maca powder
  • In general, if using daily, any super food should be changed to another every 1-2 months. And the break for it should be the same length as it was for consuming time. Example for the particular super food: 1 month on a daily basis – 1 month break – 1 month later on a daily basis. But always remember to listen to your body, maybe you will not need the same particular super food a month later – no need to force yourself, the body knows better!
  • Use only freshly grounded flax seeds, because powdered flax seeds in packages loose their nutritional value and in some way are even not beneficial to health – fatty acids in flax seeds undergo oxidative stress very quickly. Imagine, a package of already powdered flax seeds was produced few months (a year?) before and is still waiting for a consumer on a shelf
  • 2-3 Tbsp of flax seeds is a daily dose for an adult. That would be a mistake to think “as more as better” because such a rule is never working in any situation
  • One should ensure sufficient amount of water intake during a day if Gummy desert was consumed during a breakfast
  • Gummy desert with flax seeds is one of a right food to ‘break” a “fast”

Implementing new idea: peanut butter/cocoa/chia

Why not to start a day with a dessert? The chia morning meal does not give an energy, it gives a power!

This chia dessert is a separate morning meal for me. Some ingredient variations are possible, but I try to keep it unaltered.

Ingredients:

  • Chia seeds, 2 Tbsp
  • Peanut butter (or almond butter), unsalted, 1 Tbsp
  • Cocoa powder, 1 Tbsp
  • Ashwagandha or maca powder (optional), 0.5 tsp
  • Dates (3 pcs) or ripe banana (0.5-1 pcs)
  • Water, 1 cup
  • Walnuts, soaked overnight, 20-30 g (or fresh coconut pieces)
  • White mulberry, dry, 20-30 g
  • Goji berry, dry, 20-30 g
  • Blueberries for decoration and taste of freshness
  • Strawberries for decoration and taste of freshness
Ingredients for peanut butter/cocoa/chia smoothie desert

How to make it:

  • Mix in a blender peanut butter (or almond butter), cocoa powder, ashwagandha powder and dates (or banana) with water
  • Transfer the mixture into a bowl, add chia seeds and mix well by using a hand whisk
  • Let it stay for at least 15 minutes, mix it time to time to avoid chia seeds being stuck together into clumps

  • After 15 min, add dry mulberries and goji berries and let it stay for 15-30 minutes more
  • Pour the ready mixture into a glass of your choice and decorate with fresh berries or coconut pieces

Chia dessert is ready now!

These cocktail glasses are the gift from a friend of mine. Thank you, dear Shelly, for the beautiful glasses, they are always in demand for chia desserts!

Important notes:

  • The amount of the base for chia dessert (peanut butter mixture with chia seeds) could be made in advance for two days and kept in a refrigerator. Be sure you will use it next day, because as fresh it is, as better in many aspect.
  • Once I forget to add dates into a mixture for blending. So, I just added whole dates into a ready dessert. It was a little bit strange but a new taste feeling while finding those islands of sweet dates between non-sugary chia dessert base:)
  • In this dessert (morning meal) combination of whole dates and fresh coconut pieces is luscious!
